Yorke leaves Sydney
Sydney FC's marquee signing for the inaugural Hyundai A-League: Dwight Yorke has signed a new two-year contract with second-tier English club: Sunderland that is allegedly $500,000 more than the one he is presently on. According to interview given by Yorke, he wanted an extension on his two-year contract with Sydney but Sydney refused to negiotate. This might be more or less a bit of an excuse for Yorke who is known for leaving a club without another thought. Is this terrible for the A-League?I do not believe it is. In fact I think Yorke is overpriced and overrated and was not an outstanding player in Sydney's team of stellar players last season. Sydney rarely seemed to struggle without their marquee unlike rival club Melbourne Victory when their marquee player: Archie Thompson was on international duty they really struggled. Now the hunt for another marquee signing for Sydney begins. One doubts a signing will be found until at least halfway through the season but it should be interesting who Sydney try to get. Let's hope they are able to find a new marquee player quicker than the FFA has found a new Socceroos coach!
In other news, I tipped 3 out of 4 of the matches in the first round of the Hyundai A-League (I missed out on Melbourne because I tipped a draw) and I consider this a very good score for A-League tipping because unlike Aussie Rules football, there are 3 possiblties for every match when you include the draw. So I will be a kind man and give you my masterful tips for Round 2!
